Hi There,

I am hoping someone could advise me what sort of powerful heavy-duty chainsaw I could get to cut a large tree stump in my garden. I have wasted money buying a couple of electric chainsaws from B&Q and I have broken both by cutting bits out of this stump.

Apologies to bother you with this but I just don’t have the experience and any advice wound be much appreciated.

Thanks

Gerardo Sanchez

Oh, and you won’t be able to cut it lower than that metal fencing going through it either

Unless you, or the pro, cut down the trunk parallel and close to the railings, then cut it off in slices leaving the thin section around the railings. You could then attack the bit left around the railings with hand tools to break it up. Very tedious job, but is doable.

I have had great success recently with a " Terrasaur" blade on a Stihlsaw. Wouldn't deal with railings, but is designed to cut roots in soil. £100 a time, but so far, well worth its money. Takes a bit of getting used to. I'm of the opinion that that job will wreak more havoc on chainsaws than is economically viable.

Similar to what i had in mind cut as low as possible and down the length clean out around railing then attack last part and railing with Recip saw with Likes of Lennox Fire Rescue/Demolition/Pallet blade which cuts both.then put stumper grinder on last bit if want root out? or the good ole way with pick and shovels!
