Can you put streched 37cm on 40cm?

Can you put streched 37cm on 40cm? or does it depend on maker? I am using original stihl ms261 and equipment it came with.

Even if I put it on longer chainsaw bar, will it break soon (after all density become lower doesn't)?

While I agree on cost stil,  I am planning to stretch a bunch of them, that's why I am asking.

Have you tried triming fir trees?

It will break, just chuck it in the metal recycling and get a new one. Not sure why you would want to risk working with a chain that’s going to fail.

Hmm, I have one, good idea, will try it, but branches are sometime 5cm  thich, will it take them and won't damage to death?
