Yeah comparing trees is a bit crazy!  I have never chipped London Plane, love the timber though.  Lime timber is lovely for carving mind.  Wonder what round two will hold.  Yew versus Sequoia?  Juniper versus Cedar of Lebanon?

I was working with my mate who is the climber and we had another lad with us , good worker , not shy to get stuck in and he had trouble breathing when I was chipping the the brash from the plane .  I like them both . I like the lime for its sorta haunting shape in the winter and I like the plane  coz there is one in my village that must be 15 foot in diameter just above the root flare .
