eucalyptus trunk internal deadwood rot

Question

In my front garden there is a 25-30ft eucalyptus tree, for a few (5-6) years now has had a large branch taken off it which the base of which has rotted inside. The rot starts at 3ft up to 5ft from the ground. I have hacked and scraped away the rotten wood and grubs inside the wound. My question is do I now fix the large hole with glue and a large plug or will the tree have to go? I can a provide a photo for any pros out there for some welcome advice.
