Transit tipper subframes.

Anyone here sources a replacement tipper subframe for a transit or similar. I have a transit with a scattolini tipper. The van and the Arb back are in excellent nick but the subframe isn’t. Boulter tippers at Basingstoke built the conversion for me and could fabricate a replacement although quite pricey. So wanted to investigate if there are other options off the shelf so to speak.

Anyone here replaced theirs ?

Hi there,
A decent fabrication / engineering shop should be able to knock you up a new one. Unless you have something special it is only a box section frame welded together. Ideally it would be better to lift the back off and unbolt the frame from the chassis so they can copy and get dimensions right. (They could do that if they have a fork lift) If the back is good then it might even be worth getting the subframe galvanised so it lasts and can be transferred to your next truck.

Has it actually rotted through or is it just surface rust atm? Them one stop sub body's are tin thin and only last 3 - 4 year before they start going dodgy if its surface rust take it off get it shot / soda blasted then galvanised and it'll last a good few years

Has it actually rotted through or is it just surface rust atm? Them one stop sub body's are tin thin and only last 3 - 4 year before they start going dodgy if its surface rust take it off get it shot / soda blasted then galvanised and it'll last a good few years

Sadly it’s shot. Not repairable.
