Are you using more wood during the crisis?

I spoke to one person who said they are using 50% more wood as a consequence of the isolation advice/lockdown. Surely this cant be right? 50% more?

I'm not as it's much warmer in the day time and the sun is warming the house more, but I can see that in times I'm home more I use more.  I bet the national energy use over the last week is quite high across all domestic areas.

The proprtion of wood I am burning has gone up - but it has been watmer so the fire has been burnign less. This is mostly becuse I am also at home and in control of the fire, rather than out and others n charge of the fire and the coal store.

I can easily see that. people are spending a lot more than 50% more of their time locked in the house. Its inevitable they will need or want to heat their home for the same duration.

I am, when I'm at home I can keep the fire in so use more wood and less gas.  As above though the weather is bringing consumption down at the same time.  Certainly not using 50% more and not in danger of running out.
