That was about 20 years ago if I remember correctly? Maybe less.

But the critical point being was we made changes to avoid that happening again did we not? Thats all we're really asking China to do, but we kinda know thats not really gonna happen.

I think we still have to cull Beef cattle earlier than we used to due it the chance of CJD development in older cattle.

Not really, direct debit, wife works part time and we have a Post Office.

Interesting, you lead an exemplary life it seem's. :)

Id hate to think about how much Chinese tat I must have in the house. TV, Printer, tools, phones, charging cables, clothing, toys for the kids, components in the car, anything that requires a micro processor, kitchen white goods, kitchen gadgets. The list is huge. And to only have an iphone with anything made in China is seriously impressive.

But I believe welfare conditions had to improve after? Also what the cows where fed after had to change? IIRC the cows where being fed reprocessed dead cows, or was that an urban myth?

But even the fact we have to cull the beef earlier means we're making the required changes to ensure that a chance of another  CJD outbreak is minimized.

There are lots of alternatives from clothing to tools if you look around. My Hi fi- Cyrus (UK) speaker cables (UK) Speakers (UK)  turntable (Linn- Scotland) Saws (Sweden) Land Rover (UK/Germany), clothes/shoes for the kids(Toms) amongst other ethical shops my wife knows and uses.
