Beginner Owl carving

This is my owl i have finally finished it has taken me around 12 hours to do and quite enjoyed doing it please let me know your opinions good or bad as im open to all criticism and any hints or tips you may have cheers all

Not bad is it your first one ,get some images to work from or models a grinder with a rough pad is a good investment,I use one on my owls I sand the head as I find most people like to run their hands over them as nice timber is so tactical and it helps with sales ,keep practicing there is always a new trick to learn 

Good luck and have fun with it don’t worry about making firewood I have made loads .

Great first attempt and the main thing is that you enjoyed doing it.
Now go make another 200 and you'll notice each one gets better and quicker to make [emoji1].
Once you start aiming for realism, use good quality reference photos and really study their form, rather than try and copy other carvers versions. Otherwise you may unwittingly copy their mistakes [emoji106]

I like that. That is my next project to try. I've already done a couple of owls hiding in a log, but now want to try a proper one. I watch loads on YouTube videos to help me.

Thanks for the comments they help alot hoping to do more soon and get more confidence i also watch a lot of you tube for ideas and techniques can see how people get the bug as its alot of fun
