Cheap horsepower tractor???

Something to consider would be the case mx/McCormick mtx form around 1999-2003 and the John Deere XX00 and XX10 series of around the same era. Not as new as you have suggested but both are good solid work horses, especially the case mx in my experience

Is that the case with the cummins engine?

Those Cummins mx case we're brilliant, made in the McCormick factory, much better than the previous 51series and the newer crappy maxxums etc. Mtx same with Perkins engine I think

I've no issues with the 51 series, great tractors but as you said, not quite the cummins powered mx (they were cummins powered though, just not as refined). They are pretty much the same tractor as the mtx with just a different engine and while the Perkins lump in the mtx is good, it's not a patch of the cummins in an mx, completely different animal and the noise that cummins produces is second to none
