Resin Driveway Anyone got one?

Recommended Posts

Moving house in the Spring and would like to have the drive and front lawn done with resin, this is supposedly porus and therefore doesnt need planning. Anyone done the same? any pointers or probelms? Will be using a contractor as do not have the time or equipment to do a decent job myself.

A good drive is not cheap make sure resin is uv stable best ones I’ve seen done are over porous Tarmac. I’m told the patent runs out soon on the resin then prices should fall

Done well, it's a highly durable and very smart surface, though I've always found resin drives a touch slippery when wet.

Just be careful who you get to do it. Avoid pikies and cheapskates. Sounds obvious but apart from the quality of the product used, the prep is very important, more so than with tarmac. Unlike regular tarmacing, resin needs a perfectly finished base. Tarmac top coat will fill out and smooth any imperfections in the base course. Resin won't. It will follow the base and every dip, hump and whacker plate mark will show through and hollows will pond.

As above.  Neighbours two doors up have a well done resin drive; I was recently working at a house where the prep was poor and after less than a year the drive has moved a lot and is visibly breaking up.
