New LDV project.

Just out of interest this next truck has the priveledge of beign the most expensive old style LDV tipper on autotrader today !!!!!! £6700 + vat with 55K on it!!!! I wouldn't

go beyond 3K personally, the wholepoint of LDV is they are supposed to be cheap.

Where I used to work, we used to have a crew cab Bedford road sweepers truck as a chip truck.

 

The container had aluminium roller shutter sides and the frame was made from 2" box section, steel floor and steel roof!

 

It was very heavy and grossly overloaded all the time.

 

However it was quite a useful vehicle.

 

That LDV will be too heavy to start with, better to start afresh with a chassis and build your chip body from scratch.

 

When the old van eventualy died, we took off the container off and stuck it on a new 3.5 ton Edwards trailer chassis, on which it was far better.

 

I eventually bought it and cut off the roof, which was a further improvement.

 

Sold it a couple of years back, and the place I traded it in to cut all the high sides off and have it on their hire fleet as a builders tipper trailer.

i reckon it'd be a bit awkward getting chip in ond out of that side door no matter if it was overloaded or not!!!!

Hi Rupe. Do you know how much it went for?

 

I only ask because I have one identical to that. It is the next project on the anvil.

 

It’s not as heavy as it looks, the sliding door is ally as are the barn doors on the back.
