Why are UK stoves so basic?

Looking at the Blaze King's own video it says at about 1.18 that it uses 33% less wood,

Whilst that's a decent saving it does depend how much more initial as well as maintenance cost might be involved and another video I found says the Cat's cost about £280/300 to replace depending how often that needs doing as that's quite a bit of wood.

Whilst the stove we have is enough to heat the bungalow on it's own with all the doors open if you're buying your wood (which probably 95% of UK users do) it's still more expensive to run than the CH.

Before we got ours I rang quite a few installers to find out about a system that would do the rads and hot water as well and all of them said they're less popular now than a few years ago because of the massive install cost in comparison combined with you need a 12/15 kw as opposed to a 5 kw so the amount of wood you burn pretty much trebles again making it less efficient than CH and an awfully long time to regain your initial cost.

Also as stoves become more and more popular the price of cut seasoned wood is only going to go up.

I'd love to find a stove that provides heat more cost effectively than the CH as I love the aesthetics / atmosphere they provide and out of choice would use that everyday instead but until I can find a free (or nearly free) wood supply I'll probably end up remaining in the category of the 95% of other users which is using it 2 /3 times a week in the cold stretches almost as a weekend treat.
