splicing Cousin Black Widow

Recommended Posts

I believe that Cousin do their own modified splice. I watched one of the guys at the APF splice one of their ropes and it wasn't a traditional splice. It was modified so there was nothing in the eye. Would love to see a video or instructions if you find some.

There’s a thread on the splice in the Splice Rack on Treebuzz with Cousin’s Atrax.  The eye is only cover and the crossover happens farther away from the eye.  I used it on some Stable Braid and it was really quite easy, there’s no struggle to do the  bury.

There are two sections to the the eye and the cover is half the break strength in a class 1 double braid.  Normally, eyes would be twice the strength of the rope, in theory.

no just Cousin other brands developed the same I believe.

got myself a Zigzag and a rope Petzl Control 12,5mm...pics included.
Looks like the cover as no core in the eye, cover is buried in itself for about 35 cm

There is some kind of lock stitching in the first 30cm.

How do they make the eye strong enough then?

Covers plenty strong enough on its own even for climbers like Shutler.
