Are they not slightly old oyster mushrooms? Pleurotus ostreatus.

I am inclined to agree with Paul (although mr Humphries will probably be along to correct us).

 

FYI next time break off a single stem and cut it in half down the vertical plane. it is very helpful to see the stem and gills/pore surfaces. All this info will really help in IDing it (a single shot isn't great).

Thanks. Should be able to get another pic. They do look like grey oyster but it seems so late in the year. We've had loads of frosts but it has been wet and mild for the last week or so.

 

They're in the garden so I'll try and cut one off tomorrow.

I'm curious about your comment about it being late in the year for oysters. I thought they were a winter fruiting fungi that often come out after being shocked by a frost. However, I can't remember where I read that and having a quick look they seem to be regarded as a fungi that'll fruit all year round.
