It’s good they give you somewhere like that. Is it normal to get day off when off shore? I’ve always imagined it would be work solid for 2,3 or even four weeks then get a few weeks off

These facilities are generally meant to be used before and after a 12 hour shift. Lunch times as well obviously.

There is core crews on the Rig, the work 2 weeks off-shore and 4 weeks at home. Their working life is very regimented right down to tea break times.

Then there is Service Companies. Rig Gypsies. [emoji23] We do specialised jobs that are not carried out often enough to warrant a 2/4 rotation. So we get a 4 week on/4 week off rotation. In that 4 weeks work period we can be called to any rig to carry out the specialised job. We report to a “Company Man” once a shift but as long as we do what we’re required to do we’re left to our own devices. If we have to work 16 hours a day with no lunch or breaks then that’s what happens. If we’re not needed for a few days we just wait in the recreation room, cinema or just go to bed till they do. We have radios, pagers and phones in our rooms so they can always get in contact with us. Ive waited 3 weeks to do a job before we started. Not so common these days though. With the cut backs we’re usually hitting the Heli-Deck running right out to the worksite. Knocking our pan in for 2-3 weeks then right off as soon as the jobs done. So this trip is a nice change.
