Hello everyone!

My husqvarna 340 has a starting problem. It starts using choke very rarely. And when it starts it runs about 10-12 seconds and dies. When it starts and i turn off the choke it dies immediatly.

Im not good with chainsaw so can someone please help me.

Thanks.

Carb probably needs looking at, usually first thing on the list. You don't have a location in your profile but if you were near another member they might be able to help. You can get a new Zama carb from China for about £10 if you are not in too much of a hurry or a service kit from a nearer supplier. Did you have any old fuel left in the saw which has probably gummed it up ?

Sounds like the gauze strainer in the carb may be plugged with a bit of wood chip or fine dirt. The carb will need to be stripped, the gauze strainer removed, cleaned and replaced.

It may be something else as you say the saw rarely starts on the choke so worth popping of the muffler and looking at the piston through the exhaust port. Any sign of vertical scoring and the piston may have seized.
