My god, that names a blast from the past, he used to blow drainage ditches on the farms up North before everyone had excavators.

Sorry to derail the thread RCO but it was the first thing that came to mind. I remember a recording were he talked about blowing up a row of trees.

It used to be a way of removing stumps, but stump grinders came along. It's also been used to vetranise trees. Neither took off.
