Working down in the the Congo we'd regularly stay at a fairly nice hotel over the river from the Airport and it was safe and secure, but if there was ever any uprisings they'd close the Bridge and we'd be stuck at the Hotel till it blew over. Some of the other lads where there when it kicked off and had RPG's fired at them and had to hide in the false ceilings.

The last time I was there a madman from the Shetland Isles who was Hooker daft wanted to stay closer to where the hookers where downtown so as he was down a week before us and he changed our hotel from the safe and secure one with good food etc to an utter hell hole where we paid cash at a literal hole knocked in the wall and looked like Beirut back in the day. Hole in the floor where there was once a Shitter, if they even bothered installing one in the first place and a pipe sticking out the wall for a shower. Breakfast was Boiled Eggs and a bit of toast served by a local lad who wore high heels with the heel knocked off them. The nights was bloody scary with what seemed like Zombies milling around outside and not even a lock on our room doors. Could not sleep a wink.

The mad Shetland lad was having the time of his life out drinking and whoring it up every night without a care in the world. Never ever wore a Jonnie either. Total Nutter.
