Which farm jack?

I want to be able to remove tree stakes from my trees where the tubes have been removed. Is it worth paying the extra money for a genuine Hi-Lift or are the other brands OK? I'd also use it for lifting the drawbar on a roller to mount it onto the tractor

Have a hilka one its ok. I just googled the  the hi lift ones aren't that much more expensive.

Never used it on tree stakes (they pull out by hand usually after a wiggle etc) are they big  fence post size  tree stakes?

I've ordered a cheap generic one. It's for pulling out the 1" square stakes - when the tree has grown enough to press on them, they won't wiggle out. I use a steel cable loop to hold the stakes (used it before with a jack I borrowed).

I bought a new cheap generic farm jack off ebay a year or 2 back, it was something silly like £30 delivered, with an adaptor to lift wheels. Bare in mind numerous online retailers (including some that advertise on here) will charge £20-£30 surcharge just for delivery to here!

Anyway the jack does the job fine, has pulled out big posts, mesh, roots, lifted machinery, sheds, clamped wood etc.

Ps have never heard of or seen a slate fence before, looks beautiful. :001_cool:

I just bought a tool station clarke 1, not that impressed bent it pulling out the 1st strainer I used it on.

Used and abused them for years lifting strainers out on hand ball fencing jobs, never bent 1 before thou.

If the stakes are only 1" are u not easier just snapping them off?
