Ethomix fuel additive

I have started using Ethomix in my fuel mixture. so far I have had not had any problems with it. But I would like to now if anyone else has used it and what results they have had. My mate uses it in his old motorbikes and since he has been using it he has had no carb problems after the bikes stood for a few months with out starting. Before he used it he had problems. I'm just wondering if anyone has used it

Endorsed by the Federation of British historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), Ethomix is a fuel additive formulated to protect against corrosion and the build up of deposits. It quickly removes existing gums, varnishes and carbon deposits and protects against them building up again. Ethomix fuel additive is compatible with 2 or 4 stroke petrol engines and can improve performance and reduce emissions.
Ethomix also stabilises ethanol in fuels so rubber lines and seals will not degrade. Highly recommended for cars built before 1996.

I'm pretty sceptical, fuel additive products come and go and always claim to be essential and give lower emissions, better starting etc.

If you want fuel stabilization then use Stihl Ultra 2 stroke oil in super unleaded, or use Aspen/Motomix. This is taken from the Frost website:

Will the Ethomix additive, when added to pump petrol, counteract all the problems Ethanol blended fuels will cause to Classic Cars?

We think we have a pretty good product, but regrettably it will not cure all the ethanol issues.

We think we have a pretty good product, but regrettably it will not cure all the ethanol issues.

I just use Aspen 4 or Husqvarna power 4 mixed with Red line 2t oil at 50:1 . No anything problems .

I've been using Ethanol shield for years now and am convinced that it does what it claims, I've not tried Ethomix but  I would presume it does the same job.

It's all very well to bang on about Aspen, but you'd have to be pretty wealthy to be able to use it in all petrol engine usage.....Yes chainsaws are fuel greedy, expensive to repair and a bit delicate but nowhere near as costly as boats, bikes, classic cars etc which imo definitely need protected from the damage that ethanol can do to many of their components.......I couldn't possibly afford to run my bikes on Aspen for instance, but I'm happy to be able to protect them with a fuel stabiliser, the list of materials that are corroded /damaged by the addition of ethanol to fuel is more extensive than most folk realise.

I think its marked on the particular pump you use , E5 or E10 ( 5% or 10% ethanol )

Yeah, I think it,s all 10% now, I and a lot of folk I know are having big problems with water in fuel... particularly with boat engines, inboard and outboard.

It's a total pita having to repeatedly drain tanks just to avoid breaking down at sea not to mention the danger, some states in the US it's as high as 85%.

You can only really guess at the extent of the unseen damage being done not to mention the expense of extra repairs needed to maintain all petrol powered engines
