That's a darned good question.  To close a road for a vehicle search for 19 hours and more would imply explosives or CBRN materials (are they still called that?) but you wouldn't search for those dressed in no more protective gear than disposable gloves.

Puzzling.

Overtime may be short...

So why did they not take the vehicle to a more suitable location?

Since per their lack of protective gear or specialist personell, no hazards were/are present.

NOPE

Simply fuck the driving public about quite needlessly.

IMHO!

Why would they want to mess the driving public about needlessly?

They got an anonymous tip off about a large quantity of drugs wrapped up in cling film and taped to the propshaft (it's the last place you'd look).

After 30 hours of the road being shut whilst they search, it was discovered that the vehicle is a front wheel drive.

I see a guy's now been charged with possessing 'an explosive substance'.

On the premise that explosives of any sort in the hands of amateurs are not a good idea I'm glad I wasn't the a plod searching the vehicle armed only with blue gloves.
