It is possible the key on the flywheel has sheared but more likely that opening up the gap from coil to flywheel may sort it out. Basically your ignition timing has changed slightly and the saw is trying to fire a little earlier causing the kickback. The flywheel key, coil gap, coil malfunction and sometimes a plug gap being lower than spec will effect ignition timing.

I took the saw in today and the service chap is taking the nut off the flywheel, he’s going to check what’s needed and then I’ll buy the parts and repair it myself. He said it maybe the coil and not the key.

Just use a typical business card, that will do the job. Place it between the coil and flywheel magnets, let the magnets draw the coil toward the flywheel and do the screws up....pretty simple.

Do I remove the card after screwing up?
