I got asked by a third party to quote it I told him I would be looking around the £8000 mark but that was me not really wanting it but if it came off then make a decent amount out of it

Must be some tree with those prices!

Everyones under quoted jobs,

as wes said, its part of the learning curve.

Done it myself couple if times, one sticks out in my mind of an ash with lots of ivy.

Job was strip out ivy and pollard.

Wasnt the biggest ash, probably 50 foot to the tips but it was really big crown spread.

I priced it for 2 days with me and a groundie, but was lookin at a day and a morning really.

On the 2nd day when i came down late in the afternoon and the customer asked if i could take a limb away that was over his neighbours garden, had to be rigged so it was a couple of hours onto the job.

I took the hit but going back up to remove that limb was a bastard as i new i was now working in a financial deficit.

Dunno if id go back to a customer to renegotiate.

Wes lucked out on that one id say.

Just as a wee side note, id say most customers are good people and very understanding but you do get the odd prick/fuckwit.

Doesnt sound like you underquoted, sounds like you should have not agreed to the extra limb removal without charging for it as wasn't that the buggered you up?

sounds like you got lucky to me.

i wouldnt of been pleased to get a trades person out and agree a price for the job only to have them turn up on the day and say its going to cost a load more to do the job! (obviously if the spec had changed then thats different).
