I am trying to remkve a couple of bearing blocks with the bearings in off a shaft. Hydraulic puller keeps slipping off, but i understand wd40 squirted in to free the rust isnt the thing to use. Has anyone successfully used a penetrating spray that will actually help free the stuck shaft?

Only true to work old school stuff (10 - 15 yrs ago) i’ve ever know to ACTUALLY make some kind of penetrating affect was “unicorn unilease” and “plus gas” but the modern day versions are shite!!!

In this day and age your cant beat heat and vibration for a resolve, but often results in knackered seals and other near by things taking a battering too. I think your bearings would be better off just being replaced. Heat / grind to get em off, then emery your shaft up ready for new fitment. Good luck [emoji106]

Cant be done without destroyimg the machined shaft, which alone is over £200 to replaced and would be a special order item taking weeks to manufacture

Could you post some pictures please?

If they have been pressed on I hope they can be drawn out far enough to be cut off.

See below,  the small round disc with three cap head bolts on. I have remived these bolts, they are screwed into the end of the shaft. The bearing sits inside a special sleeved housing, that can onle be remived when moved to the far right as it is designed to slot between the top and bottom . I can just get a hydraulic puller on it, but it slips off due to the angle. I need new bearing blocks so i can sacrifice those.

A gas axe in the right hands wont damage the shaft :thumbup1:
