funnily enough yrs ago, the neighbour had the same tree and it did the same thing. I crown reduced it (about 20% I think) and set up a couple of guying ropes for her.

I have one of these, the wood decays very slowly so is it rotting a lot at the back of the stem or really just a bit of loose bark to keep an eye on? They grow pretty fast so maybe will sort itself down there and the problem will shift to overall size, unless you take Stubbys suggestion of course.
