Digger & Dumper Use over Public Pathways

Hi All,

I need to get a 3ton digger and 1ton dumper in my rear garden to do some landscaping and to dig out some old tree roots.

I know that I can use the machinery on my own land. But my house is set back about 100m from the main road and the only way to access it is over the public footpaths.

I will need to do multiple trips over the pathways will spoil and rubbish with both the digger and dumper. Do I need any sort of licence or does the council need to know before I go ahead and do this?

What are your views?

Thanks

Toby

You probably need all sorts of permission, by the time you have applied, they will say no from experience. My advice is just do it and wait for a problem if any! By the time its been complained about, you have finished!

Make sure Dumper is insured and road legal, then crack on and tidy up, I regularly drive over paths with a Dumper only ever had problems with police over insurance, a few signs might make a difference. Technically you should have a open notice supplied by your county council.
