Anyway, got talking to the bloke that owns this Matador this afternoon, seems he's got five of them in total. He buys and sells them, full or parts. 

 

He's keen to buy more, either to restore or split/break for parts. If anyone is interested I've got his contact details.

Bit of a thread revival, was working for Ben Aldrich this morning with this lovely old girl.

Fantastic to see one still in action and doing what they do so well (for their era). Used to operate one 30 years ago, rough as fook, but would always start when nothing else would, glorious sound with only a 14" pipe from the manifold, unbelievable smoke in the morning which would usually calm down by morning break, and the ability to keep pulling at such low revs that I swear you could literally feel each individual compression. No power steering, crash box, no heater, no glass or doors made me the wreck I am today but what an experience !!

He picked that one up as a bit of a wreck 10 years ago for 2k. Had to rebuild the (wooden) cab. It was also rolled at some point in the 90s so slightly crabs as it drives along the road. Lovely bit of kit tho.

Three back leaning red oaks. Took an hour and a half for all three. Really impressive how quietly capable it is. As one of the guys above said, barely above tickover just hauled them over.
