What genny to buy?

I’m looking for a generator for general yard use, things like the air compressor the pressure washer and small power tools etc.

To get electric to the yard is looking way too expensive for how much I will use it.

I was looking for something relatively quiet as the noise of them does my head in especially when it’s paired with the noise of an air compressor. Also I’d like something that will take a uk 240v plug or 2.

Not to bothered about cost but aiming for something around the £200-£400 mark but I will spend more if it’s worth it.

Anyone got any idea of good makes/models on the market.

I’ll be building a small breeze block hut to put it in with a couple of mettle doors on one side to lock it in then have some sort of vet on the back so fuels aren’t building up.

Thanks people.

Cool I’ll check the stuff in machine mart out and any Honda engines. I’ll take a look at the silenced ones but when I looked before they seems l little too expensive for something that won’t be used constantly. I may just have to invest in some decent ear defenders and get used to that horrible rattling sound.

I agree with the honda option but can be a bit thirsty if using for a long time. I have got a lister 5kva will run all day on a gallon of cherry. If you are building something around it why don't you sound proof it a good thickness of rockwool sound quilt should help

Good idea. I’ve got some celotex lying around actually that would cover the area. Thanks for that.

To run a compressor or power washer requires a large generator, usually 5kva  as a large start up current is required on any machine ie PW or compressor that starts under load. A Honda GX engine is the best but to have a low noise one this size will be about £15-2000

Ahh bugger. I was looking at one that looked alright but it is only 3k. Just looked at the 5k stuff and it’s all bumped up a fair bit. Ok better I find out now that to buy something that’s useless to me. Cheers
