Are there any land rovers here who use a pto hydraulic pump for a log splitter, small forestry crane,...? Which make/type do you use? What size hydraulic tank do you use? Where is it mounted? I'm located in Belgium and here no one uses hydraulic on pto.

Thank you in advance.

Someone i know has on to run a crane on ifor williams trailer he used a pump and tank off a old cherry picker and connected it to landy pto.

The defender I had previously had a pto winch. The pump was mounted just behind the cab (lwb 110) and connected to the gearbox, I believe engaging 4th gear and engaging the lever in the cab turned on the pump.
For a crane you could probably mount a small tank beside it, for a log splitter you may need an oil cooler or larger tank.. I do not know what make the pump was, I spent all my time fixing other things on it and never got around to refitting a winch. I would not buy another!

We have PTO`s on a couple of the landrovers, Tanks go under the passenger  seat on the 90`s and the pto is run off the back of the transfer case. Extra lever in the cab to engage the pto , transfer box goes into neutral , select 4th gear, release clutch  and thats it. You may need a hand throttle.

I had a RED PTO hydraulic pump from FirstFour fitted to my Defender 130 with a single circuit to the front and back. Perfect for running a log splitter or even a chipper since the flow rate was up to 54litres per min.
It’s for sale now as I had a new transfer box and it had to come off for the new one to be fitted.
The hydraulic tank and hoses are still on the defender.
Make an offer if you’re interested.
