Need advice, want to upgrade my saw.

Nice size of saw, good choice in bar length too, I avoid every inch of bar I can.

My 50cc has a 16, my 34cc a 14, my previous 50cc had a 15 and an 18, just so I could cut bushes close to the ground without bending.

Though that saw never seemed to loose anything power ways with the longer bar, it ran cool no matter how long a day it had.

I hope you get a good return on your investment, thats the Husqvarna bar made by Husqvarna you have there, they are supposed to be a good bar.

Whats the nearest pro saw to the 346 Husqvarna currently make,

was the Jonsered 2153 it's red cousin, I regrettably sold mine just because I got the same price I paid for it when I completed the job, bad mistake.

Thanks for clearing that up. Am guessing the new 545 mk2 would be close in power to the NE 346, but it does not seem to be designated as pro, though am sure there is not a lot of difference in it and the new 550, other than the power output, 2.7kw versus 3kw.

The new 550 is not available in the local shops yet, and they don't know when the 545 is coming, so will jsut have to wait and see how others are getting on with them.

Does anyone know if the new 545 and 550 use the same bar mount.

Early version was 46cc, newer version (silver sprocket cover) was 50cc.

So mines a 50 then. Good to know.

Like someone has said - I can’t see me using the 181 for much now. I dropped 20-30 discs off of a log I have here at home to see how it ran and it was effortless really. I think I will enjoy using it on the pine trees.

181 will still be handy, up a tree, in confined spaces with lots of branches in the way, its small size will let you in at stuff if your pruning and can't just cut your way to where you want to go.

I thought my small Echo 352 was small, pruning palm trees proved different, branches everywhere, a smaller saw would be better for this.

It would appear to be a 50cc although someone will pipe up with cylinder head markings to confirm. I’ve got both the 50cc and the 46cc.

I’d also recommend a 12v chain sharpener £94+ vat from rob at chainsawbars.co.uk had it for years and makes keeping chains sharp effortless. Arguably more important than having a good going saw.
