Hi,

Sorry if there is a directory for this sort of thing, please redirect me if there is.

Is anyone able to quote on milling four beech logs approx. 90cm average diameter (100cm max. diameter) by approx 6ft long and three sycamore logs of similar dimensions? I'd be looking to get a mixture of slabs and timber out of them. I'm based in Wigan. The logs are in a yard with good access but no lifting equipment, although this could be provided if needed.

I've not had anything milled before so if there is a vital peice of info I've missed then let me know.

Admin, if there is a section for this type of request somewhere move or let me know.

Thanks,

You traveled all the way up to Ayr? Did you have to stay in a Hotel over night? Did you split the slabs with the owner?

I travel nationwide.

Luckily the couple own a holiday cottage next door, normally it's cheap digs or camping in the summer.

The clients originally wanted dimensional cut timber.
The tree had fallen in a storm in 2012.
The logs were completely unsuitable for this, as the grain was all over the place and had started to spalt.
However it will make the most incredible table tops.
5-6 tons of slabs.
I charge a flat day rate.
I have a commission arrangement for selling the slabs.
