Once split I reckon only about £150 worth anyway??

People are disillusioned when it comes to this things like this.

I had a customer ask me to do a tree job for free but I could have the wood,  him saying it's ash worth a fortune that is,  needed climbing and was a £300 job with about £100 worth of logs?????????

To be honest is worth nothing until split and delivered.

with all the gumtree/facebook group etc ads you see for a few bits of rotten timber/piles of painted or treated wood, broken fence panels and general mess, I sort of think they know its worthless but are trying on in the hope some mug will not know better and will clear their mess away for them, but this?  WTF?  they've had a tree felled and asked for the wood to be left by the looks.....do they actually really think its worth money?  50 quid if delivered, fine, but to collect?  Oh dear.

They are guilty of a very quick bit of google research or maybe taking too much notice of a bit of heresay and thinking that ash firewood is like gold.

Maybe the seller looked at some other eBay listings and just assumed that every item for sale finds a buyer at the advertised price.

There are a lot of muppets out there.

The small woodland owners that you get around my way are not much better. They have a wood burner fitted then buy 15-50 acres of  lapsed coppice/scrub to supply their needs, then they realise it is too much like hard work and the novelty wears off. They then ask contractors to come in and price for putting the coppice back into rotation, when all the cutting, extraction and haulage costs are explained to them the penny drops that instead of the wood being worth its weight in gold as they thought, it is not even worth its weight in wood.
