Agreed, have used diesel hot washers before, very good but was put off by an old car body repairer explaining that the steam can actually increase the effect any salt has on the underbody.... Not sure what truth was in it but it does make sense

Could cause it to penetrate more as the particles are dissolved faster In the heat but there would already have to be some corrosion present, unless it was painted by British Leyland. Then any power washer will strip it back to bare metal!

Can't help with electric, never had one. Something like this would be where I'd be at. Honda engine and what looks like an Interpump, parts readily available for both.

I have a little Nilfisk 110 that works well enough for car and bike or patio cleaning, 120 is a bit more power. It all depends on how industrial you want to get. We used to use a proper steam jenny on fork trucks when I worked for a living and that would strip paint off anything if you got too close.

i have something like that, honda engine and a pump on a trolley with wheels. hose and lance can hang on it. detergent function on lance and can suck detergent out of a barrel.

its few  yrs old and just goes - service honda engine as per spec and pump has some ep gear oil in it you change at a huge interval, or if a coward like me every time engine is done.

thinking of selling it as i fancy a hot one, could use heat at work more now.  was made by power washer services laurencekirk aberdeenshire.

Also what pressure is acceptable?

Don't have figures but a good nozzle is as important as good pressure, some of the cheaper brands have poor distribution of water, giving a small area of higher pressure and little in the way of meaningful force towards the edges of the spray pattern.. at a guess I would suggest going mid to high range domestic or small industrial quality with a well known brand.. the model numbers probably have something to do with pressure 110, 120 etc, seen a few people mention numbers like that..
