Fresh Stump grinder sub 29" wide or less

I may be looking to change my stump grinder in the new year... Currently use a vermeer sc252 which is a belting machine! Just let down by being 35" wide!!

I like to do a proper grind, and grind the whole stump out. Im not a 4-6" below turf person....

Bit concerned about the weight of some of the grinders with regards to if needed to go over paving etc.... like the predator 28/38 etc

Dont mind a wheel'd one but tracks may also be ok...

Please if you are going to recommend a grinder, please be honest about it and its abilities.....

The bandit zt.... only grinds to 12" deep, not going to take out the full stump unless i start digging the grinder in..... then the engine will be running on a big angle oil to one pot and not the other as far as i see...

I've done huge stumps with the vermeer and even with its grinding depth of 16-18" im constantly digging the thing in to get that bit lower.

Whats a short list I should look at?

Carlton 4012? predator 28-38 Anything else?

Some of the bandit 2250n look ok but hyd head must draw power from these... and always for sale with low hours on

Cheers

Ive the ZT and used to use the 252.

BIG step up in productivity. The depth hasn’t been a problem for me, although an extra 6inches would be ace.

its pretty long at 2.5m, fast ground speed though

Its a very good machine for the relatively very low cost

id personally avoid hydraulic driven cutter wheels under 40hp, they may be less maintenance but they do sap too much power on low hp motors

Not used the 252 for a good few years but I v much doubt they go to 18” below ground level, correct me if I’m wrong. We have 4012 diesel and the specs are in the name! 40” sweep and 12” depth , had no issues in the 6 yrs I have had it going to that depth, if I was changing it would be a bandit zt or a bandit 2550 , possible a pred 38 or 50 .

Just checked it out , the 252 is officially quoted as 13” below ground so on par with most other machines of that size.

Is your 4012 remote or umbilical?
