I went to a job last week to finish off after a serious accident. The blokes were total cowboys. The injured bloke had cut his arm half off with a 440 and couldn’t be helped or retrieved by his mates. The big old birch was covered in claret. The property owner had been blagged big time. The police are involved also.

Thats what flicked my switch.

Yuk. All is forgiven!

Only 1/2 cut his arm off, that 440 musta been wile blunt, but 'bout what one would expect I suppose.

That was my thought. The injury ran up from his elbow to his shoulder. With a bit of forearm. Ruined a nice irezumi sleeve by all accounts.

There's enough accidents and injuries involving 'bona fide' contractors too

Yes that’s obviously true. I’ve seen a few or so in my time. Some are bad luck and some are bad practice but most are preventable.

I’d be concerned about dodgy gas fitters or brain surgeon s, rouge tree workers, not so much.

I’d say the situation dictates. If a rogue trader dropped a b*llock or branch over your property I reckon you’d ask questions when you found your car crushed or extension crushed and the blokes long gone.

Would you let him off for not being a brain surgeon ? Of course you would. “Oh your NOT a gas fitter ? No worries then mate, off you f*ck. Not to worry hey. Your only an rogue arborist!”

I started it to get opinion on the unqualified sector from the bone fide arborists out there. I don’t think there’s enough control of this trade in the UK. As the above post shows.

Surely you arent booked up for 3 years now, 3 months at the very best.

Theres no control of any rogue traders no matter what the service, I dont think its limited to or worse in the arb sector, maybe more prevalent as its easier to blag as a pro tree person than a spark etc.

To be perfectly honest that isn’t the rouge traders fault it’s the person employing them to get the job done.

If I loose some jobs to cheeper quotes then so be it but I’m not going to loose sleep over it. Some people can quote cheeper because there overheads a lower but then some people quote higher because they have more over heads, that’s life and like John P said I’d be more conserved about someone who absolutely needed qualifications to do what they were doing posing as a professional as opposed to someone who needs to cut a tree down.
I’m more pissed off with people who have qualifications and quote cheep to win the work, these are the people keeping the industry prices down, not our travelling friends.

No,no,no. You cant blame the victim at all. Its like saying "Its your fault your wallet got stolen as you had it hanging out of your pocket"

There are a lot of gullible people out there, it isnt their fault some cnt is pulling the wool over their eyes, the cnt should be hanged and the rest of us can carry on.
