Twin rope snatching

Recommended Posts

It could have had a defect in it too. It wasn’t me personally that day. The ring idea would be great but you’d  need a massive sling if you wanted to fit in a half hitch. Just butt tying a bit of beech is risky

Easier done than you imagine - a decent lump of beech & a numb groundie & your breaking shit.

Hmmmm, I’ve imagined nay rigged a lot of lumps with quite a few Groundsman but never thought I was about to ‘break shit’ other than my legs if they didn’t let it run .
Beech be heavy, Groundsman be dumb (mostly not) , rope be weak , but ultimately surely you work out all those variables into the risk factors .......well mostly .
We all have those fingers crossed moments when all the variables are uncomputable and the job needs doing, but busting 16mm lowering rope ....I’m sorry , but you’re pushing your luck if you’re anywhere close to doing that in my opinion .

Put a block on your piece you are rigging as well, this increases the rope in the system drastically and creates a 2-1 system, works really good especially on dodgy trees as it reduces shock loads.

Climbing arborist on YouTube has a good video about it.

Didn’t someone just post that vid at the beginning of the thread
