I know this is going to be a stupid question but given the agro of building your own trailer and having it tested etc would it not be better to buy from woodland mills?

Not really, it looks like cheap shite pressed sheet steel bolted together to build a frame. I don’t know what brakes etc it has and I’m not sure it has type approval either. Might be alright for the odd 10’ log but I’d want to keep the full length of my milk capacity.

It would be more agro to build a kit of parts than a proper welded steel chassis for me.

The easiest way would just be loaded on my 16’ flat trailer but I’d rather something purpose built.

I actually thought the Woodland Mills Trailer looked good  and well built. :D They seem to build everything else solidly and the feedback from around the interwebs in the US seem to be good. Same as the Norwood version thats been on the market sice at least 2013. They seem to be getting heavy logs thrown at them in the US and no reported issues.

I dont know about brakes or type approval though, but cant see it approval any harder to get than a home made Trailer? Seems to be a few kicking about on the roads in the UK anyway.

But Im far from an expert.

There over weight for non braked, so illegal to tow on road in uk as far as I can see. Not type approved either but reading up on this I’m not sure they need to be.

Not sure they need to be braked? I read they did not need to be but for the life of me I cannot remember where?

If its over 750kg MLPM then it must have brakes unless its for a tractor then there are some regs re the ratio between tractor & trailer.
