Blade guide options for homebuilt mill....

Recommended Posts

For those of you that have built your own bandsaw mill what did you decide on for the guides.

 

I've read so many posts it's all starting to blur.....I'd like the cook ones but don't want to fork out that much for just the guides as it's meant to be a budget build and don't have a metal lathe to turn my own.

 

I'm thinking I may go with shallow v groove beatings......has anyone used these?

What happens when the band breaks? You're in pretty close proximity to the action, from my school woodworking days I remember there was usually quite a bang when the band broke. ....

Thankyou.. and haven't had a blade brake yet I don't put a lot of tension on as there is no need but I alway stay behind the saw and the blade is surrounded by metal apart from the front that I stay away from but the perspex is super strong also.
