Small woods association

is any one out there a member of the small woodland association, or had any dealings with them who can shed a bit more light as I have acquired a 3acre mixed woodland but in contacting the Forestry Commision they told me it wasn’t too small for a visit/assistance with developing a management plan. But sign posted me to small woods. I 5ink they attend the APF or some such larger shows but with a young family ive never been able to make it up there

i am based in Somerset, 10miles from Frome if there is anyone locally that might be up for meeting up too that would be awesome,

I’m a member but you just get a magazine each month. To be fair I’ve not bothered to find out how much help they are capable of giving

Did you visit their website? That would have shown you what they can offer. The fact that the Forestry Commisson pointed you to them is a strong recommendation. Smallwoods do a number of courses at their base near Telford, including one on management plans, but may be able to suggest something nearer you. They also have a consultancy service.

I did yes. Was just looking for some first hand info/experience as their website looked good but it’s just a website, not a person.

If you end up doing the management plan yourself myForest from the Sylva Foundation (https://sylva.org.uk/myforest/home) is a good aid in the written and mapping process.
