Xmas trees

Recommended Posts

Now I don’t bother with xmas trees being a member of the church of latter day tight arses but my daughter is coming for Xmas and she wants one. Is there a problem with just using the top 8ft of one of the many N Spruces that I will be felling?

Anyone done that?

I can’t see a problem

Unless it’s very slow growing , it won’t be very Christmas tree like.

plus it’s for your Daughter , buy a nice Noble ?.

if she says it doesn't look very much like the usual xmas trees I will tell her it  is a very expensive Noble fir, cos I love her.

can't bloody lose

she gets enough money from me.
as there doesn't seem to be a problem, why are  the tops not sold on for this market at this time of year? or are they?

Waiting for a spruce to grow to 30’ just to harvest 8’ off the top wouldn’t make a lot of commercial sense.
My mate planted 900 Nordman firs a few years ago and he’s still got a good few years to wait until he has a crop.
