Tipping unit weights

I live in a satellite town for the capital of Brittany Rennes just off the 4 lane A84 and use the ring road several times a week. Many of the routes out of town are mad commuter rat runs.

Sometimes it is 'Gendarme-a-rama' on the motorway junctions.

I got caught once, once was enough, it was a flagrant violation of the weight limit being 900kg over.

I'm more carefull these days, I do it after dark...

No, really, my tipping unit is becoming tired with holes appearing in the floor.

It has folddown steel sides and back worthy of a German King Tiger and so as I cannot afford a new truck for a couple of years I thought I'd boost the suspension, uprated tyres and see if I can stretch to a better, lighter tipping unit in the meantime.

My 2014 Iveco daily single cab tipper with large toolbox is about 2800kg with tools on but chipbox empty.

Within weeks of buying it from new I had helper coil springs fitted on top of the standard leaf springs. Did the same with my 04 LDV convoy.

With the chip box full the back end still sits nice and high. Also I have a fairly high top tailboard which makes it less obvious how much is in the box.

Hello,

Does the hive mind know the approx weights of a modern alloy sided tipping unit such as mounted on factory spec tippers?

Also typical weights of full alloy arb bodie

I'm sure I've asked this before but damned if I remember the responses.

Many thanks

  Stuart
