Throttle cable sticking on stihl 600 blower

Can anyone help.

 

The cable seems to be sticking on full and not returning when I let go of the throttle.

 

I have taken apart and looked inside the handle and also the carb and all springs seem to be working.

 

The cable does not want to return on its own and I can only push it back from the carb end.

 

Do I need to replace the whole cable or is there something I have missed?

try putting some light oil into the cable housing and work it in do not use wd40 as this will degrade the sheathing on the cable 

sorry for the underlining I cannot get rid of it

More than likely there is a pulled thread on the inner somewhere and it's binding. Try the oil but I suspect the whole thing will need to be changed.

I will try the oil and if I don't have any luck will look at changing the cable.

I ve the same problem with mine. Oil did not cure it, i had to replace, somebody said the oil actually makes the inner sheath swell and cause the problem?? not sure if thats right or not.

Just to close this one off, the sheath had sheared in two and had then chafed the cable. A new cable and a bit of non related TLC got it going nicely. The sheath is steel and plastic, the metal won't change shape with oiling!

Big thanks to Steve for helping me out on this and for all the hard work with the other saws.

 

All work really well now and good to be back using a 200 rather then 201.
