It depends on if he has the factory interface. He may have updated the latest firmware but there is little that can be done other than that - perhaps resetting to default but that's about it.

Personally I would whip the muffler off and look at the piston through the exhaust port. You can also measure the compression as a good indication of the general state of the engine.

It does sound like a lazy mechanic UNLESS he has seen that the piston has nipped up but a new piston would sort that!

Thanks for the professional update spud,hopefully ile get it back next week after he receives the new ordered barrel and piston and fits it,and all is well.

He also said he had to register my saw as it wasnt done in my name?

You can store your details on the Autotune ........looks like it has already been done against the previous owner.
