cutting a CE spliced eye lanyard to make 2

Managed to tag and damage the tail on my lanyard yesterday, so it’s now a lot shorter..

going to get a spliced eye version this time as it’s one less knot and a cleaner harness/less snags.

when i looked a 9m version isn’t much more than the shorter ones and certainly cheaper than buying 2 spliced chunks of rope.

will cutting it to say a 3m and 6m invalidate anything or cause me loler pains? only one will have the ce info on it...

If you cut it cleanly with a red hot Stanley or kraft knife blade to seal the cut ends and you can put a unique ID number on the piece that is un-marked recording when it was manufactured and when it entered service it will be fine.
Most arb stores sell a rope marking kit. You will need heat to shrink the clear tube over the label.
