Waterproof alternative to plywood

Half of an ibc tank with a plastic manhole cut in top or Side for your box, then drainage pipes cut into it for runs

Had a quick google of home made warrens. Some Irish chap just used lose concrete blocks to build the compartments and ply over the top. Replace the ply with Stock board, use plastic pipes where appropriate and Ian's idea of manhole covers for access. No joints required as such.

Access from the top makes it hard to keep water proof and also will spoil the look if you are going for all turf and a natural look, manholes that I have fitted years ago are not water prof and are expensive...Why not place the sleeping box`s side by side at one edge of the mound, the edge that is least in view and just have a door on its side for access, even staple some fake turf to the door it if it is in view.I would actual put some small closable viewing windows in the door so the kids can see them in there home and you can check things or replace bedding ect.Only down side is the rabbits will have a bit of a sheer drop from top of mound on that side but something can be added to the top like a bush or rocks. Build sleeping boxes out of concrete blocks, concrete flags for roof with overhang where door is to keep rain off,covered in cheap plastic sheeting before you cover it with mud/turf.

This is actually what I was thinking, with the sheer drop being on the back side out of view.

Only prob with the idea is insulation, I guess for the coldest of winters they will need soil all around the sleeping boxes in order to stay warm, so maybe building sleeping areas big enough to accommodate a wall of straw where the door is would be an idea.

Great stuff this made from recycled farmers plastic HDPE, can be cut with a saw, welded, or screwed together, comes in thicknesses from 3mm to 18mm. we use it a lot where we used to use marine ply.

was planning on making the back entry door solid and windproof, not a typical wire rabbit cage door.  The inside should be pretty cosy.  Don't particularly need an indoor viewing area.

I would say marine ply covered in varnish and then build the structure. With some cheep plastic sheeting covering the whole of it, you could probably just staple it to the ply until you essentially have a plastic sheet box.

Great stuff this made from recycled farmers plastic HDPE, can be cut with a saw, welded, or screwed together, comes in thicknesses from 3mm to 18mm. we use it a lot where we used to use marine ply.

I've been aware of this stuff for a while now but not had a use for it yet. How exactly do you go about welding it?
