stihl 2 stroke oil

Hi all may be a bit of a dumb question this ? does 2 stroke oil have a shelf life or not, as been rooting in the back of shed and found 2 5 ltr drums of stihl 2 stroke oil (the red stuff) so thats mineral based oil, don,t know how long its been there 3 4 5 6 years may be more, i cant even remember putting it there (age thing) looked on label on drum and cant find anything about shelf life or date of manufacture can any one shed any light on this please ,

Never ever heard of a shelf life on it, likewise lube oil - only petrol which has volatile parts that evaporate.

i believe in theory it slowly absorbs water.  I strongly suspect in practice it will be fine for decades at least.

one drum is still sealed so i am happy to use that but i will mix it with new  50/50 and the other is opened with about a ltr missing price on one drum is £29.95
