Did you blow the extra 25quid?

I did, yes. Fond memories of my old DCS7901 meant I couldn't resist. I'm only really planning to use it for firewood for the house, but better to ring up with 79cc than 50.

Was damn tempted with that ebay Makita 7900, so started to do some research and the first thing I found was this Recall on that model, meaning that before I should use it, I would have to contact Makita, get replacement parts sent out etc, thats even if they would deal with me, on a used saw with no proof of purchase

I bought a used one. They did the recall no bother didn't even ask. Bit of a fanny on but got sorted eventually. Tbh the part they changed seemed totally fine before anyway. But the new price from radmore isn't that much dearer is it?

Considerably cheaper if you are VAT registered.

Hope you get it. I waited 2 months and still had no delivery date, that was from world of power, then tried somewhere else but they never returned my calls.  Much happier with a 365 xtorq from Bill, although I was about to head to Jones for a new one until Bill offered a used one.  Dolmakita is a good saw, but if it ever needs attention and spares.....I feel I dodged a bullet.

To bring this thread to a long overdue conclusion, I waited for more stock, and ensured the recall was sorted before, but ended up buying a 7900 from Radmore and Tucker, will report back when its arrived and I have used it.

Thanks for the help and advice all, I wouldn't have considered a Makita if it wasn't for this forum.
