That’s an excellent piece of kit Rob[emoji106]
I watched the demo vid last week, I seem to remember you mentioning that it can be used to replank thicker boards or true up / plane seasoned boards. If this is possible, how exactly can this be done?
I can’t see how the end brackets would attach to a thin board, unless you clamp the board somehow to another log your milling??

Sorry, I’ve just watched it again and you didn’t mention anything of the sort, weird lol

Look forward to seeing this Rob

I did a few boards today - it works! The dry wood is tough on the chain but wow - it's a chainsaw planing machine as well as a re saw.

Chain tension has to be tight and chain must be sharp - vids to follow.

P.S look in top right hand corner of the CSB site and you can pick your language!

Ok am uploading now - few things to bear in mind:

  • I should have had the chainsaw up the other way in the more traditional 'milling' orientation
  • Dry wood seems to dull the chain faster
  • You MUST make sure the timber is screwed or somehow fixed so it is immovable
  • Inside a mask and full helmet + glasses advised
  • Using a big log would be better... [one that you have squared the top and sides]
  • It may be possible to do a large wide plank going up one side and down the other but this is hoping a lot!
  • Other chains may give very different effects
  • If the chain is dull or not tight it can de rail easily

Positives are

  • You can turn crazy twisted timber into flat timber pretty easily...
  • Instead of moving a heavy piece of timber you are only moving the chainsaw
  • No need for extra bits and no need for power
  • You can re saw a big thick piece - in fact if you wedge you can cut exact thickness planks from the bottom without adjusting the height

Ok Check this - I did some other boards but imagine - you can hack an interesting lump off a tree - and when dry get it flat with the Intersect!

Not to mention the re sawing ability or even sawing wet wood.

Yes that looks very useful Rob, attached to a squared log is how I imagined it done[emoji106]
I do like your table though, have you any footage on how the track sits along the table edge?
Will the intersect come with the track?
And have you an idea on price yet?
