As long as its under the 3.5 ton you will be fine, you are going to end up with a very small legal payload though.

Bob

On the flip side you will keep the original train weight so may well be able to tow 5+ tons on a pre-97 car licence.

I just looked up the kerb weight of an Iveco 35c12. 2150kg with no body on of course

the Iveco 65c18 is 2350kg according to the spec sheet.

I was surprised it's not much of a difference really.

So 200kg extra , I guess the only difference is bigger engine and uprated springs, both handy. I like my 35c14, but did notice at the time some nice low mileage heavier Daleys with the big engine for less money, if what Donk says is true youll need a bigger trailer to fill up

We put our 6.5ton crew cab over a weigh bridge once when filled with chip and it came in at just over 6.5 ton if I remember correctly... I have never weighed the 3.5 toners but as trucks they are no way near as good as the 6.5 toner.. There is more to it then springs and engine..

Our 6.5 toner has just died after 8 years of abuse...

Well I did get a 5.2t truck down rated to 3.5. It weighs 3t empty. But really does the job well. The guy who sold it did all the paperwork so no stress at all!

WHY?

5 fat blokes & your over weight.

The 3.5 tonners weigh pretty much the same (whatever make) so why not? At least it should be running in a safe condition if actually overloaded on paper. Probably cheaper to buy originally, 3.5 tonners make strong money anyway.

A 3.5t wont weigh 3t empty.

Just do the licence & run heavier vehicles.
