GNR (which replaced fioul in 2011) will only be available to farmers and the rail transport sector from January 1st 2019

Diesel at the pump to rise by around 7cents.

I think the maritime guys have their own diesel stained blue.

You're telling me they would pull you over, and dip the tank on the chipper to see what fuel you have in it? And then what? I can understand a road vehicle being tested, but a chipper?

 I'm now running the new GM 150p which is fitted with one of these engines.

10 hours now on the clock, 51m3 of chip produced.

The fuel consumption per hour to date is 4.5litres which costs me around €7.60 for SP98.

I'm very pleased with that as I was expecting a far higher figure.

 

So far my observations are quite positive.

Chip quality is very fine from it's 4 disc blades and is thrown strongly to the rear of the chip box.

The new style longer infeed folds up so creates great additional storage.

The running gear is uprated to 950kg which should cope well long term with the 690kg weight.

The tow hitch is sturdy and lockable.

As I stow the chipper in my garage, I ordered the optional chute support which fixes to the drawbar. It is the work of a minute to undo 2 bolts and fold the chute down.

My previous GM was the 200 model.

In France we have additional stop buttons which I will get retro fitted.

The bottom stop bar is very sensitive, requires uprated springs I feel.

My old Quadchip could reverse the rollers by pulling on the stop bar, I liked that feature and wish the 150p had that feature rather than having to fumble for a side button.

An optional spare wheel carrier wouldn't go amiss for those of us who are not affected by towing weights.

Ty had my 150p for around 6 months now and very pleased with it all how you described but not to fussed bout stree controversy being a bit sensitive,like how the chassis is over engineered not like the Timberwolf new 230 were I believe they have had a bit of trouble.i didn’t know you could have a rack for the Shute?was not given that option.but must admit the whole machine is great value the design is fab.

I imagine that after Jan 1st 2019 when red is no longer supposed to be used for plant, the Gendarmes and Douaniers (customs) will start dippping tanks of plant both at roadside checks and on sites to check if it is being used illegally.

They regularly visit building sites checking for unregistered workers as it is.

I went with the först st6p. Same engine, quicker than my last chipper! Don't really get the issue with petrol Vs red diesel on 6 inch machines. Most do around an hour a day on average realistically, that's what, £2 difference? Vs the £3k saving when buying the chipper!

*Sigh*...

I gleaned all around the trees we where working.

I moved a stack of electric fence supports and rebar well away from the area.

How the new groundy (on trial) didn't know the difference between a length of rebar and an oak branch is beyond me.

It wasn't an electric fence support, that would have been very bad news I am sure.

 Happened once before in 2012 with the quadchip, shattering the blades that time.

Straight dry skinny laurel branches piled on top of a stack of rebar used as plant supports.

No other damage this time, just turned the blades a third and away we go.
